HOLY FREAKIN HOTNESS!!! 🀀πŸ”₯πŸ₯΅ While I’m not into the whole daddy or humiliation/degradation kink, the story completely hooked me and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. Just an FYI, because until I got to the last page I had no idea, Stroke of Midnight is NOT a standalone and leaves off on a HUGE cliffhanger.

Man oh man, K. Webster doesn’t pull any punches, does she?! What an incredible author. Whether it’s mafia romances, erotica, MC, new adult, WHATEVER she pulls it off every time. It’s no different in Stroke of Midnight, it just works. Although she has dropped breadcrumbs from the original story, enough that readers will understand that it IS a Cinderella-ish retelling anyway, but she’s put her brand of sexy modern, erotic, and taboo twist on it and made the story completely her own. I love that Webster pushes boundaries and wants readers to step outside (wayyy outside of) their comfort zone and fall in love with romance and characters that aren’t what society would call β€œnormal”. Who likes normal these days anyway? It’s 2020, that shit is overrated.

Ash was a bit naΓ―ve sometimes and I kind of wanted to shake her and tell her to MAKE THE DANG PHONE CALL!, WHY IS HE COMING FROM UPSTAIRS?, TOWELS… REALLY GIRL?!? But I liked her, she was feisty and I found myself laughing out loud at some of her and Winston’s text conversations. Even though Ash is most definitely not a girl that can be bossed around or told what to do, she craves the way Winston commands and dominates her. Plus her bank account is continually growing after every encounter. I liked that she wasn’t afraid to let go and push past boundaries with him, Winston opened up a whole new world to her and she dove in headfirst.

Oh and let’s not forget β€˜Shrimp’! The girl has a dang pet bird! When do we ever read about characters with pet birds?! I’ll tell ya I’ve read few and far in between books where the character has a pet bird, I guess it’s the whole Cinderella talking to animals thing? Lol

It’s mentioned a time or two that Winston has been hurt in the past and those walls of his are a mile high, but the more time he spends in Ash’s company, the more those walls start to come down. The chemistry between the two is intense and the steam is explosive.

She couldn’t be bothered with Ash unless she was talking down to or criticizing her until she got wind that Ash was hanging around Winston and now that she thinks she can use her stepdaughter as a ladder to get her social climb on, she’s suddenly showing her face. Disgusting, vial woman. I’m hoping she gets what’s coming to her.

That ending was super intense and although I did think it was going to go a little differently (I didn’t know that Stroke of Midnight was not a standalone) I loved it and I can’t wait to see what goes down in book two, Prince Charming, I have a feeling we’ve only seen a glimpse of how bad our bad boy prince can be!
