A dark, depraved, and absolutely delicious Cinderella-ISH retelling!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ 𝑂𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔: Stroke of Midnight by K. Webster is absolutely nothing like I expected! Told in first person dual point of view, although Stroke of Midnight does have some Cinderella-ISH vibes this age grab, erotica, forbidden romance is unlike any Cinderella remake I’ve ever read. HOLY FREAKIN HOTNESS!!! 🤤🔥🥵 While I’m not into the whole daddy or humiliation/degradation kink, the story completely hooked me and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. Just an FYI, because until I got to the last page I had no idea, Stroke of Midnight is NOT a standalone and leaves off on a HUGE cliffhanger.

Man oh man, K. Webster doesn’t pull any punches, does she?! What an incredible author. Whether it’s mafia romances, erotica, MC, new adult, WHATEVER she pulls it off every time. It’s no different in Stroke of Midnight, it just works. Although she has dropped breadcrumbs from the original story, enough that readers will understand that it IS a Cinderella-ish retelling anyway, but she’s put her brand of sexy modern, erotic, and taboo twist on it and made the story completely her own. I love that Webster pushes boundaries and wants readers to step outside (wayyy outside of) their comfort zone and fall in love with romance and characters that aren’t what society would call “normal”. Who likes normal these days anyway? It’s 2020, that shit is overrated.

If you are a dark romance lover, not afraid of some unusual kink, and don’t have many triggers… then I highly recommend checking out Stroke of Midnight!

💙 (𝐻) 𝐻𝑒𝑟𝑜: Winston Constantine, head of the Constantine family, CEO of Halcyon, and a very, VERY wealthy man. Powerful, ruthless, demanding, dominant, Winston may be a lot of things, but he’s certainly no Prince Charming. Winston has a very particular taste for a certain kink and he’s willing to pay whatever he has to in order to have those tastes fulfilled. I am loving seeing Winston’s walls start to come down. Although I hardly think he will ever be a “soft” man, the searing jealousy and possessiveness he feels towards Ash is a big, ol’ red flag waving around telling me that this is about a whole lot more than just having a new plaything…

Low and behold, Winston offers her the answer on a silver platter. But Ash has to decide what she’s willing to give him… because Winston wants everything.

Ash was a bit naïve sometimes and I kind of wanted to shake her and tell her to MAKE THE DANG PHONE CALL!, WHY IS HE COMING FROM UPSTAIRS?, TOWELS… REALLY GIRL?!? But I liked her, she was feisty and I found myself laughing out loud at some of her and Winston’s text conversations. Even though Ash is most definitely not a girl that can be bossed around or told what to do, she craves the way Winston commands and dominates her. Plus her bank account is continually growing after every encounter. I liked that she wasn’t afraid to let go and push past boundaries with him, Winston opened up a whole new world to her and she dove in headfirst.

Oh and let’s not forget ‘Shrimp’! The girl has a dang pet bird! When do we ever read about characters with pet birds?! I’ll tell ya I’ve read few and far in between books where the character has a pet bird, I guess it’s the whole Cinderella talking to animals thing? Lol

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 𝟓/𝟓 𝑅𝑜𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 & 𝑆𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚: There’s a bit of a push and pull between Ash and Winston, he’s into all these kinky things and that lifestyle is a whole new world for Ash and although she definitely enjoys it, she doesn’t think she should so she’s somewhat fighting a losing battle against herself in that aspect. It’s mentioned a time or two that Winston has been hurt in the past and those walls of his are a mile high, but the more time he spends in Ash’s company, the more those walls start to come down. The chemistry between the two is intense and the steam is explosive.

Lol, no really though, SHEESH! 🥵 My jaw was on the ground reading some of this stuff and I’m not even into the whole Daddy or degradation kink but some of these steamy scenes and the things that came out of Winston’s mouth had even me all hot and bothered and blushing like I should have been clutching my pearls or something!

I can’t wait to see how all that plays out but I have a feeling that Winston is far from done with them and that they are far from done with Ash… I know “technically” they are villains of the story… but I can’t help but want more from them. Not with Ash, obviously because she was made for Winston but I could totally get down with an F/M/M/M story with some other lucky (or is it unlucky? I’m a dark romance reader so I can’t tell anymore) lady… Hint, hint K. Webster… Just saying, I’d read it. 💁‍♀️

And then we have step-mommy dearest, Ash’s conniving wicked stepmother. She couldn’t be bothered with Ash unless she was talking down to or criticizing her until she got wind that Ash was hanging around Winston and now that she thinks she can use her stepdaughter as a ladder to get her social climb on, she’s suddenly showing her face. Disgusting, vial woman. I’m hoping she gets what’s coming to her.

🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪 𝐶𝑙𝑖𝑓𝑓ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟 𝑊𝑎𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔: HUGE CLIFFHANGER!!! Not just a little one either you guys, I’m talking BIG… like big as Winston’s *ahem* LOL. I have an idea in my head about one of Winston’s colleagues and the Morellis, but that’s just one of my theories. Either way, I have a feeling things are about to become explosive between the Constantine’s and the Morellis and that Ash is going to find herself caught right in the middle of it all. Sheesh, my jaw is still on the floor. That ending was super intense and although I did think it was going to go a little differently (I didn’t know that Stroke of Midnight was not a standalone) I loved it and I can’t wait to see what goes down in book two, Prince Charming, I have a feeling we’ve only seen a glimpse of how bad our bad boy prince can be!
