Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Fallon who was taken far away from home shortly after she was born.
A home that held more than strange traditions and bizarre superstitions.
Twenty-four years later, she returned to Weeping Hollow, a town sheโ€™d only heard about in stories during restless nights under a marble moon, in the middle of the night to take care of her last living relative.
They called the nosy mortician a freakshowโ€“a ghastly thing.
They said I couldnโ€™t go near her.
Still, there was this aching pull to Fallon Grimaldi that I couldnโ€™t escape.
A nostalgic pull as if weโ€™d been here before.

Once upon a time, there lived a mysterious boy named Julian with a curse as old as centuries wrapped around his soul.
He was one of the four Hollow Heathens, the very dark creatures who caused the townโ€™s people to live in fear.
And the Blackwell name was stained with darkness and death.
They called him a monster. Cold and hollow.
They said I shouldnโ€™t go near him.
Still, there was this aching pull to Julian Blackwell that I couldnโ€™t escape.
A nostalgic pull as if weโ€™d been here before.

CB Five Star Rating

โ…and remember, no one is safe after 3 a.m.โž

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ ๐Ÿ“/๐Ÿ“ ๐•บ๐–›๐–Š๐–—๐–†๐–‘๐–‘ ๐•ฝ๐–†๐–™๐–Ž๐–“๐–Œ: Hollow Heathens, the first book in Nicole Fiorina’s new Tales of Weeping Hollow series. Follow along in Hollow Heathens as the author weaves a tale of magic, curses, fate, mysteries, secrets, feuding covens, and a forbidden but never-ending love between two star crossed lovers, all in the magical mysterious small town of Weeping Hollow. This story is magical, riveting, and unlike anything, I have ever read before. I won’t go into the plot too much in this review because for starters the blurb is perfect, but secondly, because this is the type of story that you need to just go in blind, with as little information as possible. But trust me, it is so, so extremely worth it.

โLove doesn’t live here, only fear grows in Weeping Hollow. Love is a fool’s fantasy and a monster’s nightmare.โž

Fiorina is a phenomenal, one of a kind author. Her world-building and the poetic-ness of her words are unlike any other. I am floored each and every time I pick up one of her books, which is why I continue to one-click every one of them. Her masterful talent continues to shine in Hollow Heathens.

โE pur si muove.โž

If you like a little magic and fantasy with your romance then I can’t recommend Hollow Heathens enough!

โHate me, moon girl. Hate me like the rest of them. Hate me as I hate me. Because if you don’t, one of us will kill you, and it will probably be me.โž

Hollow Heathens flips back and forth between the present and another period, back when the two covens first convened in Weeping Hollow.

Years ago, Fallon’s mother died after childbirth, soon after her father rushed a newborn Fallon away from Weeping Hollow.

Twenty four years later, after correspondences with her ailing grandfather, Fallon has returned to the town that she’s only heard stories of.

Fallon only returned to take care of her grandfather but what she didn’t know was that she would be entering into a century-long feud between two covens, the Norse Woods Coven and the Sacred Sea Coven.

The Heathens are apart of the Norse Woods Coven, while Fallon is under the protection of Sacred Sea, she is warned away from the Heathens but finds herself inexplicable drawn to the leader of the Heathens, Julian Blackwell.

โWe’d connected, a kind of connection that seemed as unworldly as this very town and the residence it beheld.โž

Julian and the other Heathens are trying to figure out a way to end the century-old curse that was placed upon them, just like the Heathens before them have tried. But with Fallon in town, Julian finds himself drawn more and more to the moon girl that he’s been warned to stay away from.

โThere was no denying this thing we had. This thing I had no name for, it felt like magic and read like taboo.โž

There is so much mystery surrounding the town of Weeping Hollow, the townsfolk, the covens, the Heathens, and even Fallon herself. Hollow Heathens will keep you drawn into the mystery with each and every page with an ending you’ll never see coming.

โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ ๐Ÿ“/๐Ÿ“ (๐–) ๐•ณ๐–Š๐–—๐–”๐–Ž๐–“๐–Š: Fallon ‘Moonshine’ Morgan-Grimaldi, has always been a bit of a loner no matter how hard she’s tried to fit in. She’s been teased and severely bullied because her looks are quite unique, leaving her with many insecurities.

Fallon has a tough time when she first arrives in Weeping Hollows, she knows nothing of her mother and father’s lives within their covens, she never even knew they were witches. Believing that all the old stories her nanny used to tell her were just that, stories.

โHere, in Weeping Hollow, I learned to love myself and found a home within my own bones, no matter what become of me.โž

Fallon has never been able to find a place where she belongs, but in this strange new town of Weeping Hollows, Fallon finds a home and a place that she belongs.

I like that Fallon was such a unique character and watching her not only grow throughout the story but to heal as well, was amazing.

โMonsters could have hearts too, and the truth was, we had a heart just like every other living thing. But we couldn’t let anyone get close enough to feel it, see it, take it, shape it.
We had to push them away to protect them.
Because when people get close, they die.โž

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿ“/๐Ÿ“ (๐•ณ) ๐•ณ๐–Š๐–—๐–”: Julian Blackwell, the leader of the Hollow Heathens. The Hollow Heathens are the firstborn sons of the five founding families of Weeping Willow. Julian, Beck, Zephyr, and Phoenix are the last four of the five original descendants from the Norse Woods Coven. All of the firstborn sons are cursed, never being able to show their full faces. Heathens before them have tried and failed but Julian and the Heathens are willing to do just about anything to break the curse so that they can live a “normal” life.

โFallon was able to calm me in ways I had never expected, straightening a broken chord in my heart, and plucked it, bringing it to life in a soothing song, like a nightingale of the Norse woods.โž

Julian has been defined for so long by the curse and his shadow-blood that he believes himself a monster, the way the people of Weeping Hollow make him out to be. But he’s far from a monster and Fallon sees that right away.

The way he stands up for his coven, his beliefs, his fellow Heathens, and his love for Fallon… he’s truly an amazing character and I hope in the coming series we see him and Fallon again.

โFallon looked past the curse, and therefore, I couldn’t look past her.โž

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ“/๐Ÿ“ ๐•ฝ๐–”๐–’๐–†๐–“๐–ˆ๐–Š & ๐•พ๐–™๐–Š๐–†๐–’: The connection between Fallon and Julian is magical. Right from the very start, the two are inexplicably drawn to one another. There is so much push and pull with them because of the feud between the covens as well as Julian’s curse but under the cover of darkness, they find a way to be together. The odds may be against them, but soulmates will always find a way to one another. I don’t even want to call what they have together “steam” because it’s so much more than that.

โ…how beautifully bizarre the story would be, falling for Julian Blackwellโ€”one of the monstrous things who made the woods their hiding place, yet looked at me as if I were a mosaic masterpiece.โž

โฅโฅ ๐Ÿš โฅโฅ ๐•พ๐–Š๐–ˆ๐–”๐–“๐–‰๐–†๐–—๐–ž ๐•ฎ๐–๐–†๐–—๐–†๐–ˆ๐–™๐–Š๐–—๐–˜: There are several other amazing characters introduced in Hollow Heathens, including the remaining four members of the Heathens. I am so excited for ALL of their stories but the two that I am most interested in right now is Phoenix and Fable’s story, after reading Hollow Heathens there isn’t a doubt in my mind that there is SOMETHING there and after the magical ending of Hollow Heathens… I can’t wait to see what happens next.

โThey’re all liars, but we’re not.โž

๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒŽ ๐Ÿ“/๐Ÿ“ ๐–‚๐–”๐–—๐–‘๐–‰-๐•ญ๐–š๐–Ž๐–‘๐–‰๐–Ž๐–“๐–Œ: Although world building isn’t a usual category for me I can’t write this review without talking about how absolutely AMAZING and well developed the world-building in Hollow Heathens was. The back story, the mystery surrounding the town, the different townsfolk, each and every character added that extra “SOMETHING” to this world and to this story to make it that much more magical.

โHis taste was nocturnal. His touch, an eclipse.โž

๐ŸŒช๐ŸŒช๐ŸŒช ๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ“ ๐•ฎ๐–‘๐–Ž๐–‹๐–‹๐–๐–†๐–“๐–Œ๐–Š๐–— ๐–‚๐–†๐–—๐–“๐–Ž๐–“๐–Œ: What a magical ending to a magical read. No, there is NO cliffhanger… BUT there are so many more couples, and stories to from the lively inhabitants of Weeping Hollow and because of what’s to come in the Tales of Weeping Hollow series, I gave this one three cliffhanger tornadoes because I have no doubt that what’s to come is going to be a whirlwind of magic and romance. Up next is Bone Island, Book of Danvers, and I am soo excited to see what happens next.

โš ๏ธ ๐•ฟ๐–—๐–Ž๐–Œ๐–Œ๐–Š๐–— ๐–‚๐–†๐–—๐–“๐–Ž๐–“๐–Œ: There are difficult subjects that could be considered triggers. E.g. violence, murder. If you would like to know more, feel free to DM me!

โThey said you couldn’t know the moon, touch it, kiss it, make love to it. You could only watch from the dark trenches of the earth, admire it from afar.
Yet, still, I fell in love with the moon. And she, too, fell in love with me.โž
