Wicked Princess is book three in the Royal Hearts Academy Series by Ashley Jade and the story we’ve all been waiting for… baby Covington A.K.A Bianca’s story! Although the Royal Hearts Series is a series of standalone books featuring different couples, Cruel Prince and Ruthless Knight should be read before reading Wicked Princess in order to gain a better grasp and understanding of the Covington family dynamic, as well as to have a better reading experience.

Okay… soo this is a hard one for me to review. 😕

Going into this book after reading Cruel Prince and Ruthless Knight I was expecting one thing and what I got was something completely different. With that being said, I enjoyed Wicked Princess… I just didn’t get the “wicked” part of the story that I was betting on.

Cruel Prince and Ruthless Knight have built Bianca’s character up to be this completely ruthless chick with walls a mile high. I was really looking forward to seeing what boy was strong enough to go toe to toe with THE legendary bad bitch Bianca Covington and tear down all of those walls to get through to her little cold and dark heart. The only problem… those walls have already been “forgotten”.

❝𝑌𝑜𝑢’𝑟𝑒 𝑎 𝐶𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑡𝑜𝑛, 𝑑𝑎𝑚𝑚𝑖𝑡. 𝑊𝑒’𝑟𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑎𝑠𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑒𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑢𝑝 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑠𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 ℎ𝑖𝑡 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑎 𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑙𝑒 𝑏𝑖𝑡𝑐ℎ.❞

I know there was a LOT of speculation going on about WHO Bianca’s love interest would be, I didn’t even care who she winded up with (FYI, I never expected it!) It’s just HER that I wish hadn’t been changed up the way she was.

Don’t get me wrong, during Bianca’s “memory flashbacks” we get a glimpse into some of the mean and ruthless things that she had done but again, the story was just nothing like I expected it to be. Bianca was NOTHING like her character had been built up to be in the tastes we got of her in books one and two.

❝𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑑𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑖𝑛? 𝐸𝑎𝑠𝑦. 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡. 𝐵𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠𝑛’𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑤𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑠. 𝐼𝑡 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑠 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑠𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑠.❞

Another issue for me, the accident. Although Wicked Princess CAN be read as a standalone, if you haven’t read Ruthless Knight then you know absolutely NOTHING about the accident. In Wicked Princess we weren’t told ANYTHING about it. We never found out WHY she was in the car with Hayley even though she hated her, or WHAT caused the accident. Although after that bonus epilogue at the end of Wicked Princess… I have my suspicions of WHO the other driver was and although that was another question I had, where that character was, I get it now.

Again, I know some people were thrilled with the outcome and will love the book, but this review is MY personal opinion, and unfortunately, Wicked Princess just wasn’t my cup of tea. 🤷‍♀️ Don’t get me wrong, and I hope no one takes this the wrong way. I wholeheartedly respect an author’s vision, it’s her art to do what she will with it, but I just feel like the original vision was completely changed along the way although I did see posted somewhere that Ashley ALWAYS planned for Bianca’s character to turn out this way. 🤷‍♀️

❝𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑜𝑙𝑑 𝐵𝑖𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑎 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑟𝑜𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑛 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑒. 𝑈𝑛𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑢𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑦 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑒, 𝐼’𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑝𝑎𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑓𝑜𝑟 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑏𝑒ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑖𝑜𝑟.❞

I still adore Ashley Jade’s writing and I’m still REALLY looking forward to what she has in store for us next with Broken Kingdom. ANDDD a little birdie told me there is finally a release date for book three of the Complicated Parts Series, come on JUNE!!!

With that being said, I highly recommend checking out the Royals Hearts Academy Series INCLUDING Wicked Princess because although it wasn’t for me, doesn’t mean it isn’t for you. Which is why I still gave Wicked Princess three stars. Some may think that’s crazy after my review, but again even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, I’m sure that if I had never been introduced to the Bianca from books one and two, then I would have enjoyed this one… unfortunately, I loved the original Bianca more. 🤷‍♀️

🌪🌪🌪🌪🌪 𝓒𝓵𝓲𝓯𝓯𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓻 𝓦𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰: Although the ending felt a bit rushed, Bianca’s story is all wrapped up, I still have a feeling we will be seeing more of her again in book four, Broken Kingdom. Soo there wasn’t really a cliffhanger, BUT there was an epic lead up to book four that had my jaw literally on the dang floor!!!
