Cracked facades slowly expose everything we hid from the other.

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ๐/๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐น๐๐๐๐๐: Sick Remedies by Natalie Bennett is book two of the Pretty Lies, Ugly Truths dark romance duet and the conclusion of Rhett and Nova’s story.ย Anyone who follows me knows that I am a HUGE fan of Natalie Bennett, she is the Queen of Dark and I have loved everything she’s put out and the majority of those releases were all 5-star reads for me, including Sweet Poisons. But with Sick Remedies… I liked it, but I just couldn’t LOVE it.

I HATE to do this, I really do. As I said, Natalie is the Queen of Darkness, she has a crazy, dark, and twisted imagination that usually makes for some amazing dark and delicious characters… but I wasn’t feeling it with this one. Rhett and Nova are actually pretty tame compared to what I’m used to from Natalie.

As far as the plot, even though it seemed like there was a lot going on, it was like nothing ACTUALLY happened. I know that probably doesn’t make sense but it is what it is. I tried to understand that other characters would be getting books to so I’m sure more of the never-ending questions will be answered then but I’m just still so damn confused. After reading Sweet Poisons readers were left with LOTS of questions that I assumed most of which would be answered in book two, Sick Remedies, so I was okay with that. It added to the suspense. But now that I’ve read Sick Remedies I feel like I STILL have no answers to any of those questions. I’m just as confused as I was when I finished book one. ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐คทโโ๏ธ

I know that a couple of the secondary characters will also be receiving their own stories, I’m pretty sure as of now there are at least another two books, so I’m HOPING that maybe the story will become a little clearer once we get everyone’s story. I still would have liked to have had a bit more answered between this duet, But with all that said, I’m still a huge Natalie Bennett fan and I’ll still be reading Emery and Callum’s book next, Sweet Nothings.

๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐บ๐๐๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐/๐: As far as the romance/steam factor, this one was actually kind of low for me. Sweet Poisons was HOT, but with Sick Remedies, it felt like everything was just more rushed and because of that, the depth between Nova and Rhett didn’t feel as strong this time around. I just didn’t FEEL it between them as much as I did in Sweet Poisons.

๐ช๐ช ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐/๐: Not exactly a cliffhanger…ย Yes, there is a “happily ever after” for Rhett and Nova, but there are several secondary characters that still have stories to tell and several questions that are still unanswered.

Natalie Bennett
Natalie Bennett is the creator of erotic stories that always come with a warning label. She writes about depraved alpha a**holes and women that love to hate them. Her books donโt follow any specific tropes, have no set word counts, and tend to deviate fromย traditional HEAโs.
When she isnโt in front of her computer sheโs spending time with her husband and their three little boys.
Natalie is an avid fan of caramel frappes, horror movies, Shameless, and of course, reading.
