Cold Queen by K. Webster is book two in the multi-author Sinister Fairy Tales Collection. Venom was a hell of a start to this series so I was super excited to see what was going to come next… K. Webster did NOT disappoint! Although part of the Sinister Fairy Tale Collection, Cold Queen can be read as a standalone. Cold Queen is a steamy, dark-ish re-telling of the Disney movie, Frozen, but with a sort of Game Of Thrones twist! Although besides Queen Els… I mean Queen Elzira having the power to control the weather, that’s where the similarities end! For someone who usually has no interest in fantasy/paranormal type books, this Collection is only two books in and I am hooked!

  After the death of their parents, Elzira Whitestone and her half-sister Yanna become orphans. While Elzira also becomes Queen Elizra Whitestone of the Norta Icelands, Punisher of the Damned, Weather Maker, and her sister’s caretaker.

After she became Queen, Elzira was able to harness her cold powers and was a powerful force to be reckoned with.

But now, ten years later and the Cold Queen has lost the use of her powers and is slowly withering away. If it wasn’t for Yanna helping tend to her, she would have died long ago.

When King Ryke Bloodsun of the Souta Volcanoes, Truth Seeker, and fire maker, suddenly storms the Norta castle wanting to negotiate with the Cold Queen for Princess Yanna’s hand in marriage the Queen immediately dismisses the idea. Her sister needs her just as much as she needs Yanna.

King Ryke wants to go through her lands to fight against an unknown enemy in the Hidden Lands where the Moral War awaits. But the only way to do so is to go through the Norta Icelands, thus leading him to try and make an arrangement with the Cold Queen.

Ryke is shocked to find that the fierce and powerful Cold Queen is dying. Although he’s puzzled as to WHY she’s dying. Very quickly Ryke becomes captivated by Elzira and his plans for the young princess go up in flames.

But before they can come to an agreement, the Damned are upon them.

With King Bloodsun’s army, the Volcs, and Queen Whitestone’s army the Eyes Of The White joining ranks behind them, King and Queen lead their armies into battle against The Damned.

But just when they think the worst is behind them, betrayal closer then they could have foreseen hits.

I absolutely LOVED this story! Move over Elsa because Queen Elzira is here! From beginning to end, I was hooked on Cold Queen. I’m not a huge re-reader, but I could definitely read this one again. For as quick of a read as this was, the development and depth of the characters and plot were just enough that I was fully invested in the story. My only complaint is that it ended too soon. Not that the story was incomplete or anything like that, I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Ryke and Elzira just yet.

Elzira may start out as frail and sickly but she doesn’t stay that way for long! She proves EXACTLY why they call her the Cold Queen! I love Elzira, at first, I wanted to shake her, how could she not realize what was going on. But you can’t fault her for putting her faith in the people she was SUPPOSED to be able to put her faith into.

❝ For a mad, bossy king, you’re sometimes sweet.❞
❝ And for a cold-hearted queen, you’re awfully hot.❞

Ryke, HOLY HOTNESS! That man comes in like a wrecking ball and he has no intention of going anywhere until he gets EXACTLY what he wants. Willingly or not. He’s ready to make heads roll…hehehe… to get to the bottom of this mysterious sickness that is slowly killing the Cold Queen. Ryke is the type of guy you automatically assume you are going to hate and then BAM, He’s sweeping you clean off your feet, which is just what he did to Elzira!

❝ Her face shines with happiness. Joy. Hope. Life. How dare those who ever tried to keep this powerful queen weak and on her knees. She was meant to stand above all men, including myself.❞

Things may have started off cold and chilly between them but it wasn’t long before the heat was scorching! The chemistry was sparking off my Kindle from the beginning and those steamy scenes… sheesh! Let’s just say Elzira is totally okay with Ryke’s bossy ways… as long as they are in the bedroom. Elzira needed Ryke more then she could have ever known. Alone they may be good, but together they were great. When ice and fire combine they are a force to be reckoned with. With Ryke’s help, Elzira once again becomes the Cold Queen that she was always meant to be and together they unite the two most powerful kingdoms.

❝ Tonight, you’ll bow for me, Cold Queen. And then I’ll spend the rest of the night worshiping you between your thighs.❞

I can’t NOT mention the battle scene, that was ahhh-mazing! I would have liked it to have been a little more graphic and a bit longer but honestly that’s probably just my dark mind 😈😈

That ending… gosh. I’m just saying, even though I LOVED it. I wouldn’t hate it if K. Webster decided to go a bit further with this story and the characters… *WINK, WINK*

If you are a K. Webster fan then be prepared for her style of dark romance with an extra twist and a whole bunch of twists and turns.

Cold Queen is a dark, fantasy romance, filled with loyalty, betrayal, deceit and a whole lot of steam! I highly recommend checking this one out!
