Captain ‘Callum’ Hook, my oh my this was a totally different Captain Hook then we have all met in the past. For starters, he doesn’t actually have a hook, BUT he IS a vampire pirate! Crazy, I know right?! But trust me, it all makes sense and you are going to LOVE it! Captain Callum has left his pirating ways and now runs Rosewood.

Tinksley Bell is a beautiful young half-ling. A.K.A a fairy and a fae had a baby and that baby is Tinksley! She is the definition of innocence BUT, Tinksley isn’t as “innocent” as everyone thinks she is. She’s sassy, impulsive, and completely reckless and she is SICK of everyone treating her like a child. So in her quest to rebel, she slowly but surely falls for Peter Pan…

❝ I really am that broken now. As mangled as he left my heart.❞

But Peter isn’t the guy that Tinksley thinks he is. It’s a mystery to everyone as to how Peter ended up in Rosewood, to begin with, and while the rest of the community keeps their distance, Tink continues to fall for his smooth lines and charming boyish features. Completely blinding her to Hook’s feelings for her.

But with a greater plan at play, Hook has to sit back, wait, and watch while Peter breaks poor Tinksley’s heart. But then he will get his chance to help Tinksley put her pieces back together… only BETTER than ever before. Hook has had feelings for Tinksley for a very long time but with Peter holding her captivated she didn’t SEE him the way he has ALWAYS seen her.

Mystery, betrayal, secrets, lies, lust, and love, top that with some mythical creatures and a dark twist on a childhood favorite, and you have the phenomenon that is VENOM! This isn’t the Disney Peter Pan that we all know and love, ohhhh noooo! This is the dark ADULT version of the childhood favorite.  Just be ready, because this is as far from the original story as you can get. All the same characters are here but the story its self and the persona of the characters are COMPLETELY different! Absolutely unique and original, and unlike anything I’ve ever read before.

In Act One, I wasn’t sure how I felt about Tinksley. She wasn’t my favorite character, unfortunately. In Act Two I started feeling a bit different, she went through sooo much and my heart was breaking for her. In Act Three, HOLY SHIT! Tinksley went from cute and innocent to completely FIERCE and I loved watching her transformation throughout the book.

❝ Show me, Hook. I want to see your little wonderland of debauchery.❞

Hook, GAHHH! What is there not to love about Callum Hook?!?! He was a brooding, intense, badass vampire. Both feared and adored by his subjects. who held a soft spot in his heart only for Tinksley. He was fiercely protective of her and although he ALWAYS wanted to claim her, he knew that she needed to figure things out by herself before he could swoop in and make her SEE him.

❝ I’ve corrupted that little pixie with a singular swipe of my tongue.❞

The mysterious, forever young and adorable Peter Pan we all know and love is GONE! In his place is a vile boy who uses lies to get his way and hurt the one person who has always loved and been there for him.

Honestly, if I could have changed ANYTHING, it would have been that we would have gotten more time with Tink and Callum together as a couple. Most of the book was Tink heartbroken and then fighting her feelings for Hook and turning him down even though he had been nothing but good to her throughout. But, once they FINALLY got on the same page this book was ON FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥 I mean that table scene… SHEW! I know I was blushing even reading it, and I read DIRTYYYY books! I would have LOVED to see what other trouble these two could have gotten up to together…

❝ I want to devour her, consume her, possess her, fucking own her.❞

The WOW moment… the whole catalyst for what was going to “trigger” Tinksley… I’m rarely ever completely surprised but HOLY SHIT I NEVER saw that coming!

The secondary/supporting characters were all VERY interesting and there were definitely a few that had me very intrigued. Mostly from Captain Hook’s crew, you’ll see why once you read Venom but I am very excited to read their stories!

I absolutely adore Dee Garcia and have LOVED everything she has written so I was sooo excited to see how her first attempt at PNR turned out. THE GIRL KILLED IT!!! I was blown away and she did it WITHOUT completely changing up HER style of writing, which I was extremely happy to see. The way she describes and sets scenes with her words, the way she crafts a visual picture in your mind… I can’t even put it into words. Absolutely amazing author. Garcia has set the bar pretty damn high with Venom being the start of this interconnected Sinister Fairy Tales Collection. If it is any indication of what’s to come then I can’t wait to see what the rest of these amazing authors have in store for us as they retell these classic fairytales but with a dark twist and their own unique styles.

If you are a fan of the dark and twisted, and also love those old fairytales then you NEED to check out Venom! This is not one to be missed for sure! HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 𝟙/𝟚 – OMG! Venom and the realm of Rosewood blew me away! Venom is a dark and twisted retelling of Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, & the infamous Captain Hook BUT this time around, the good guys aren’t such good guys, and the bad guys are even badder!

🔥🔥🔥🔥 – Although a bit of a slow burn between the Captain and Tinksley, when they do catch fire they burnnnn!!! HOLY SHIT YA’LL, that table scene… SHEESH! 😍😍😍

🌪 ℂ𝕝𝕚𝕗𝕗𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕖𝕣 𝕎𝕒𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘: Nope, no cliffhanger. Hook and Tink’s story wrapped up beautifully BUTTTT this is only the beginning of the interconnected Sinister Fairy Tales Collection so there was most definitely some intrigue and mystery left to still be discovered in the next book, Cold Queen!

Don’t do it, Tinksley. Turn around, says the angel on my shoulder, a voice I’d forgotten existed amidst the demands of depravity.
Do I listen? Of course not.
I have to know what’s happening. I’m too intrigued not to.
An intrigue that continues amounting as I pass this hand-carved archway with thick spiraled pillars. The pillars themselves aren’t what draws me—it’s the marionette puppets hanging off each one. They’re both female; one blonde, one brunette, both surprisingly quite scantily clad unlike a typical puppet.
I’ve never seen one like this before.
Reaching out to graze the tips of my fingers over one of their wooden bodies, I—
“Boo!” a husky voice ghosts in my ear.
My heart shoots up to my throat as a terrified scream breaks free. Next thing I know, I’m spun around, staring into amused blue eyes.
I literally feel myself deflate in his grip before I can react accordingly.
Bastard.
“What the f*ck!” I shout, wiggling myself free.
Callan chuckles darkly and shakes his head, crossing his arms over his chest. “Look at you. So crass these days.”
I mimic his stance. “What can I say? I learned from the best. You’ve got one helluva sailor’s mouth yourself.”
“I’m not a sailor, love.” He smirks. “A pirate? Yes. The Captain? Obviously. Not a sailor, though.”
