Darkest Deeds by Cora Kenborn, book #7 in the Cavalieri Della Morte series. I know I’ve said it multiple times while reading this series but I really do have a new favorite and this one is right at the TOP of the list for me! Darkest Deeds has a little of EVERYTHING, enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance, suspense, betrayal, murder, AND the mafia! This book packed a serious punch! Cora Kenborn is a new-to-me author and man does she know how to write a mafia romance! Told in dual POV there are so many bombs dropped you won’t know when the next ones coming!

Nikolai Garetovsky, now known as Niko Gaheris (or one of the other 28 aliases that he uses) is another one of Arthur Calthorpe’s loyal assassins for the Tabella Della Morte. Niko just finished a hit when Arthur calls with another one, at first Niko wants to turn it down… but when he finds out the reason Arthur called him is that it’s a hit on someone from his past, someone he’s wanted revenge on for eight long years, he can’t agree fast enough.

Once upon a time all those years ago Niko loved Ava and would have done anything in the world to protect her, but one night when Niko needed Ava to protect him from her father who was once Niko’s mentor, she didn’t and Niko suffered horrible consequences for a crime that he didn’t commit because of it. But now, Niko has his chance for revenge.

Ava Chernova the Bratva Princess and the Russian mob boss, Sergei Chernova’s daughter. Agent Schaeffer decides that Ava could be useful to him so he uses her indiscretions against her to make her spy on her own people. But Sergei hasn’t gotten to where he is now by not knowing what’s going on with the people around him and he knows that Ava is talking to the FED’s and he wants her dead.

But Niko isn’t just out for revenge on Ava, he wants Sergei dead too. But when Niko sees his Pchelka for the first time in eight years, well you know what they say about the best-made plans…

Niko is an absolute alpha! He exudes power and masculinity and I totally understand why Ava has an awfully hard time hating him. BUT Ava, Ava is hell on high heels! She’s sexy and deadly but she still has an air of innocence to her that Niko finds impossible to resist even though he doesn’t know whether he can actually trust her or not.

“You see, Ava, Sergei may have hated you, but you always knew that. But me? I loved you, and love that turns to hate is the most dangerous kind.”

I think my absolute favorite part of this one was that even though this is Niko’s story, Ava completely stole the show! I loved Niko but there is nothing better to me than a strong ass heroine who can hold her own with her alpha, and Ava, she can do more than just hold her own, she can give him a run for his money!

“I hate him for not fighting harder to save me. I hate him for letting my father turn me into a whore. I hate him for hating me. But mostly, I hate me. I hate me because as hard as I want to make myself believe all of it, I don’t.”

I HIGHLY recommend Darkest Deeds, if you like dark mafia romances that are full of betrayal and redemption then this is the one for you!
