I don’t give a fuck.
Not about money or fame, beauty or power. I’ve had all those things since birth, and trust me, they’re a fucking snooze.
I don’t give a fuck about anyone, not even myself.
Until my father proves evil can exist in the most holy of places.
For the first time ever, something like interest stirs in my soul.
He wants me to enroll at St. Augustine.
Join The Elite.
Court the virginal daughter of Archbishop Savoie.
Prove that I’m worth the family name?
I’ll do it all.
And I’ll do it so well, no one will know what’s coming.
People are so quick to underestimate the wicked and lazy.
They forget idle hands are the best tools for the devil’s work.
I am Rush Dempsey.
I am Sloth.

Review
Sloth by Giana Darling, book #6 in the Elite Seven Series. This series must be read in order to keep up with the stories. I literally just finished this book and I am still sitting here with my jaw dropped open! I have a couple of favorite guys from this series so far and the glimpses of Sloth throughout the stories have left me the most intrigued about him. On the outside, it looks like Rush cares very little about anything really, but yet, whenever his brothers needed someone he seemed to always be around made him a bit of an enigma. Giana Darling did a fabulous job of telling Rush’s story and I loved that she did a little glossary of the who’s who in the series, that was a great idea!
This is Sloth’s story.
“The Elite. Please, Cher, stay away from them.” were the last words Rush Dempsey ever heard his mother speak, as she was sinking in Lake Pontchartrain. Rush is convinced there is more to the story and that the Elite is behind her mysterious suicide. So for the last year, unlike his sin name, he has worked hard and done whatever he needed to do to get into the Elite so that he can enact his revenge against them.
Rush Dempsey, the sexy sinful bad boy, the black sheep son of the Senator of Louisiana. Rush has an “I don’t give a fuck about the world” type attitude and to the outside world, he fully embraces his sin. But what the world doesn’t see is that he’s the furthest thing from lazy as one could get and he will do anything to end the Elite, including his given task.
“Idle hands do the devils best work. Your task is to desecrate St. Augustine’s Church. An excess of faith in the wrong thing is sinful. We aim to teach Archbishop Savoie the perils of being too willful. Take his pious daughter and ruin her.”
Isabelle Savoie, daughter of Elijah Savoie, the Archbishop of New Orleans. Isabelle has followed her father’s strict guidelines for what a “good Catholic girl” is without question. But when her father wants her to be used by his buddies in the Elite to help them gain political power, she decides enough is enough. So when Rush comes and provides her with an out, she grabs on with both hands!
“There was so much goodness in her heart it shone through her eyes and bathed me like noon sunshine.”
Sloth quickly discovers that there’s much more to Isabelle and she isn’t just the little Church mouse that he thought she was and he plans on worshipping at her alter for a long time to come.
“I found you and I’m keeping you. I found you and I took you, knowing that I’d be dragging you into my hellish world and also knowing that I’d protect you from it at all fucking costs.”
Watching the brothers and their women all come together and make their own “family” that was pretty awesome, I feel like we see a whole new togetherness out of all of them then we have in the prior books.
“If they’re the Seven Deadly Sins then we’re the Holy Virtues. Their perfect matches.”
That ending, HOLY SHIT! Seriously, that was… I can’t even! Blown away, literally! Fantastic fucking job! I honest to God did not expect that AT ALL! Let’s just say there are TWO very, VERY big surprises and you’ll have to read Sloth to find them out!
I absolutely loved Rush and Isabelle together, like seriously #couplegoals! They both give each other exactly what the other needs. Rush lets Isabelle become the woman she was meant to be instead of the person she’s been told she needs to be. Isabelle understands Rush, and when he leans too far into the darkness, she’s there to bring him back to the light.
“He was a gorgeous sinner, a siren of fault and virtue who sang to something inside my heart that yearned for duality. He wasn’t all bad and I wasn’t all good. We could be both, maybe even together.”
Ahhh there is soo much that I want to say about this story, especially the end but I just can’t without giving too much away Read it you guys, seriously!
Giana is a new-to-me author but after the amazing addition, she brought to this series I will definitely be checking out more of her work! She has executed the perfect mix of the dark Elite’s story, while still giving us an amazing romance. Perfect!
We have one more book to go and plenty of secrets to still be exposed, with that cliffhanger, I have a feeling that the conclusion of The Elite Series, Greed is going to be absolutely EPIC!
“I had found that something, against all odds, at St. Augustine with a sinner and a group of broken saints.”
